English Dub Review: KADO: The Right Answer “Nanoka”

Closing time?

During KADO: The Right Answer episode “Rotowa,” socio-political themes continued to emerge. In “Nanoka,” political banter persists. Yaha-kui zaShunina (Jason Librecht) arrived in his cube, KADO. In “Rotowa,” zaShunina offers the gift of wam. This device can generate unlimited electricity. While zaShunina offers it as a gift to the Japanese government. However, the UN is poised to sanction Japan if the wam aren’t handed over.

“Nanoka” deals with the reactions of humanity. Reactions from the likes of scientists, military personnel, and journalists are presented. Kōjirō Shindō (Ian Mead Moore) and zaShunina meet with Shinawa Kanata (Tabitha Ray), a theoretical physicist. She’s a genius, but pretty quirky.

While some feel the wam should not be shared, still others feel the wam should have never been shared. I enjoy the scenes of Shinawa probing the wam. She studies them within a shielded room. Additionally, zaShununa and the Prime Minister meet in private. He suggests that there’s a way to surpass national interests between countries.

There are some neat shots in “Nanoka.” A close up of the PM’s shoes and hand. a faraway pan over a group of shady characters. I like this cinematic vibe. Furthermore, the dialogue-driven narrative is increasingly interesting with its mystery element. Often a reveal is insinuated but delayed til later in the episode.

I quite enjoy the amplification of the politicized aspects. Plus, a huge reveal occurs: the wam can be made. It’s about the shape, not about the material. “Nanoka” concludes with a statement that the course of human history has been altered. Indeed, the final moments pose a radical change for humanity. I’m keen to see the fallout from this U.N. meeting and how countries, as well as zaShunina, react.
