English Dub Review: Dragonball Super “This Is All the Power I’ve Got! A Settlement Between Gods!”

The “Battle of the Gods” Arc has now reached its conclusion, but who won exactly?

Picking up from the last episode, Goku & Beerus continue their fight even after his Goku’s “Super Saiyan God” form expired but they keep going at it as they make their way back down to Earth even taking their fight into the deep depths of the ocean. Strangely, the two are back in space once again but is now reduced to his standard form with black hair. The battle appears over as Beerus flicks Goku’s forehead and is falling back down back to Earth. But Goku being the traditional hero he is, doesn’t easily surrender and finds the strength to get back up returning to battle as a gold-haired Super Saiyan one last time to deliver his signature Kamehameha and Beerus uses one of his energy bombs.

The massively bright explosion turns into a large fiery ball that’s heading towards Earth putting Goku to a disadvantage because Beerus can increase the size of the energy-bomb with the simple click of his fingertips. Knowing that this ball is capable of destroying Earth, The titular battle concludes when Goku uses up all of his energy to punch it before it can do real harm and the Earth is saved, yet Goku is left exhausted falling back down to Earth with Vegeta catching him.

However, the threat doesn’t seem over because Beerus is still alive, And since Goku technically didn’t win the fight. Beerus declares premature victory, but out of dumb luck, before Beerus blows up the earth he ends up just as exhausted as Goku and falls asleep. Whis while carries Beerus and gives his thanks to everyone transporting Beerus back to his home planet with Beerus later admitting to Whis he felt satisfied from his battle with Goku especially since his prophetic visions became a reality. The final scene has Goku at the party excessively eating in celebration, everyone (including the Kai’s) is now relieved that Earth and their galaxy are spared and the Episode lightheartedly ends with Vegeta turning down Goku’s offer from earlier to be the next receiver of the Super Saiyan God Ritual proclaiming he’ll train “the respectable way” on his own to attain that power rather than “borrowing” it.

Our Take

Much like the film version,  the battle was a tie due to both of them being worn out but it took them 14 episodes to retell this story. It’s great to see that the “Battle of Gods” arc has finally concluded, the fight scenes were excellent and we can hopefully expect good things with the remaining 12 episodes of this season as it slowly leads towards the altered retelling of the most recent DBZ Anime film “Resurrection F”.
