English Dub Review: Black Clover “The Magic Knights Entrance Exam”

Does this week’s episode pass the test?

Asta and Yuno are at the Clover Kingdom and meeting a bunch of locals before they take off for a round of “Entrance Exams” to see who the Captains should even bother with. Asta nearly gets into it with one of the captains, but when it comes down to the exams, the other candidates appear to be leaving the magicless wonder in the dust…that is until the final exam which puts Asta against a cocky son of a bitch that gets DESTROYED.

Our Take

This week’s episode kicked off more like a filler episode, but boy did this shit get good at the end. I can’t get enough of Dallas Reid’s delivery for “Asta”, and I love the dialogue the producers are giving him because he does every line with so much force I can’t even imagine the amount of strain this role must’ve put on Reid’s vocal chords. Yuno, on the other hand, gets very lame dialogue and is nowhere near as original or fun to listen to. Yes, having all of the characters ride a broom is very Harry Potter, but the final test was good enough that it helped me forget it.
