English Dub Review: A Centaur’s Life “We Tried Making a Fantasy Story in RPG Style | Fierce Fights! Arm Wrestling! How Will the Battle of the Heroines End?”

It’s video game time!

Overview:

The girls end up dungeon crawling in a fantasy setting, bikini armor and all. Back in the real world, the class prepares itself for a massive arm wrestling match between all the girls.

Our Take:

The first half of the episode is a JPRG parody, which involves the main cast going into a dungeon. They encounter some typical enemies like monsters and slimes, and have to dispatch them the usual way, but with their own flair personal flairs. Most of the time they’re faced by Kiyoko, whose magic and wit is the most crucial for the party. Himeno is too nervous to fire her arrows, and Kiyoko’s sword doesn’t work on half the monsters. While Suu is a dancer, she ends up using her personal knowledge instead of her dancing abilities. Mitama is the last boss, and they make her retreat by revealing her weakness. Of course, in the end, it all turns out to be Akira’s fanfiction, which the main cast ends up criticizing.

Not a big fan of the perverted slime moment, but it is a JRPG parody. Akira is also the author, and we all know how she is.

The second half is rather cute and features an arm-wrestling contest between the members of the class. Mitama is an unexpected challenge since she is strong from having to take care of four young children. M lives in a dojo, and Himeno trains in archery, so they both make it to the finals as well. Nozomi ends up being knocked out early, having been taken by surprise by Mitama. While Himeno doesn’t see the point in arm wrestling, she ends up being the victor from sheer strength. The person least interested in the competition still has a natural advantage.

Altogether, there was more slice of life than worldbuilding this episode, but that’s alright. The show is cute, the characters are all having fun, and that’s more than enough.
