Some lighthearted stories, and a very dark one.

Spoilers Below:

First up is “The Forgotten Princess” by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Antonio Sandoval. Finn and Jake investigate some mysterious ruins and end up getting separated. Finn walks through the door and enters a war zone, where a princess and a mustached creature are being attacked by a skeleton. They say that Finn has ended up in the Kingdom of Forgotten Stuff, which is currently under attack from the armies of the Feathery Goat Man. They say that only lost and forgotten things end up in there, and they realize Finn is new. As the armies come closer, they urge Finn to escape but to please remember them, because that’s the only way out.

Finn escapes and collides with Jake. He asks if Jake remembers him, and Jake says that there’s no way he could forget Finn. As they walk away, Finn says that there’s something he can’t really remember.

Next is “Body by Jake” by Max Davidson and Luca Claretti. The Candy Kingdom is being flooded, and Jake and Finn combine to make the Jake Suit. Finn now has access to Jake’s massive strength, and together they save the kingdom. Finn takes all the credit, and Jake points out that it’s due to his strength that the suit works. Finn says it’s all due to his brains, and they decide to have a weightlifting competition. Jake is able to lift extremely heavy things with pure strength, and Finn uses his surroundings to liven things up. They find themselves evenly matched, so they decide to go for the ultimate challenge: lifting the Ice King’s spirits.

The Ice King is sad, and the Jake Suit busts into the palace. They say that they were going to compete, but seeing as the Ice King is so down, they decide to work together. The Ice King cheers up, and the duo congratulates themselves on their teamwork.

The third is “Bring on the Rad Guys” by Jai Nitz and Devmalya Paramanik. Finn and Jake fight their ways past monsters to get to a giant treasure horde. They encounter a manticore trapped in a jar and free it. It tells them to run before it escapes, but it’s too late; the Flame Lord appears and traps the two heroes in a cage of fire. The manticore visits Normal Man to try and get some help, and Normal Man agrees to come along.

Normal Man pretends to be Magic Man to scare off the Flame Lord, but Finn and Jake accidentally reveal his trick. The manticore and Normal Man are trapped in the same cage, and Normal Man has an idea– to barter their freedom with cupcakes. The Fire Lord agrees to set them free in exchange for the cupcakes, and the manticore and Normal Man bump fists.

Last is “Chock Full o Stuff” by David DeGrand. The two heroes are bored, so Jake sees how much stuff he can fit into his body. He easily swallows up a whole horde of random items, but doing so accidentally angers some Blob Monsters, who think Jake is making fun of them. They start to attack, and Finn tries to drag Jake away.

Overview:

All the stories this time were really good overall. They feel like snippets from Adventure Time episodes and are really enjoyable, the middle two especially. The first story was good as well but was also really dark. The princess of the forgotten kingdom has been stuck in a war zone for an extremely long period of time and spends most of it fighting for her life. Most importantly, she’s trapped, for those forgotten can’t leave until they’re remembered by someone in the outside world. The only potential savior, Finn, forgets instantly upon being set free, leaving the princess and her servants trapped forever. Finn is implied only to have escaped because of his bond with Jake, or else he might have been stranded as well. Dark.
