Bob’s Burgers officially solidifies itself as ‘the third show’ on the FOX lineup following Emmy win

If you look on Metacritic and search Bob’s Burgers Season 1, EVERY publication had thrown aside FOX’s newest show like it was a sack of potatoes. Publications like USA Today, Washington Post, and the NY Times had all called for the early dismissal of Bob’s Burgers without even giving it a chance. Fast forward to last Saturday Night when Bob’s Burgers would win its first Emmy, and now all of those critics are officially eating crow. Of course, we called Bob’s Burgers a great show since Season One and now everyone and their mother is behind this series, but we’re ok with that because it happens all the time.

In any case, the Emmy win did at least ONE thing for Bob’s Burgers…it Christened the animated series as the TRUE third show on FOX. With all of its success and ratings, American Dad never got the accolades that Bob’s Burgers is getting and not since King of the Hill has an animated series on FOX won an Emmy and wasn’t named Family Guy or The Simpsons.

And it’s not like Bob’s Burgers haven’t been battling since pretty much its premier. During its second season, the show had to share its time slot with Allen Gregory and Napoleon Dynamite, and this past season Bob’s Burgers was given a SHITTY 7 pm ET/PT time slot which is set to change this fall on FOX.

Bob’s Burgers comes off its Emmy season with what looks to be a rather stellar upcoming affair complete with guest stars galore, but let’s take a second to acknowledge the starts Bob’s Burgers has given us. Lead actor Jon Benjamin would continue to pull double duty on Archer and Bob’s Burgers doing a fabulous job on both. Dan Mintz’s (Tina) career has EXPLODED as not only does he write for the very popular Nathan For You series, but he’s also an executive producer on the hit Hulu series The Awesomes which just got picked up for its third season. Finally, Kristen Schaal has managed to balance not only additional voice duties on the hit Disney series Gravity Falls, but is also one of the most in-demand live-action comediennes in the business. And less we forget the brilliant Loren Bouchard, if you ever get a chance to see him at a Comic Con…do so! The reason being is because Loren gets just as many questions about Bob’s Burgers as he does about Home Movies, a show that had been cancelled 10 years ago but somehow kids in their early teens know about it. And how about Bento Box Entertainment! This studio had two horses in the 2012 race with Allen Gregory and Bob’s Burgers both getting shortened seasons on FOX, but since then the studio has had as good of a couple years as any animation studio on the planet. Currently, the studio is producing outstanding animated entertainment for the likes of Comedy Central, Hulu, Adult Swim, and more and continues to be one of the most in demand studios in the United States, if not the world.

That said, I wouldn’t say this Emmy win for Bob’s Burgers should really reflect this past season…to be honest we thought Rick and Morty, Archer, and maybe one or two others had better seasons. Instead, we’d like to think of this Emmy win as a representation for all of the hard work and bull shit the producers have had to put up with in just a short amount of time, and suffice to say, all of the producers, writers, and actors for Bob’s Burgers certainly deserves the win.

The future continues to look bright for Bob’s Burgers, a comics series is on the way, the show has a syndication deal on Adult Swim, and the fervor surrounding the series is at its highest point. All of this in three years time?  Yea, but don’t thank the press…
