10 Times Other Broadcast Networks Tried To Beat “The Simpsons” But Failed Miserably

If you had a TV show on today with good writing and it featured the cast of David Spade, Andy Dick, Janeane Garafolo, Bob Odenkirk, and Maura Tierney, it could potentially get three seasons on name value alone. Unfortunately, NBC tried this at the beginning of the millennium with a series called Sammy, a series all about the titular character (voiced by Spade) living with his family all the while pursuing a career in acting, but it was canned after two episodes aired of the 13th produced. This is what happens when you give something to NBC that’s nice and at the time you only want reality TV shows.
