Review: Red vs. Blue Season 13, Episode 2 “Capital Assets”

rvb13 ep 2

Now, this is the RvB that I love. We are back to the shenanigans that the Reds and Blues are known for, except this particular brand of hilarity is like a bomb. Both teams working together this season is something that we haven’t seen before. Yeah, they’ve worked together in the past, but they are one team now. And the viewers reap the rewards.

Never before have I laughed so hard at an episode of RvB, and it was from something that I would have never thought would have been in the series when it started. You guessed it, it’s the scene with Tucker dancing to “Another One Bites the Dust” with Sarge laying background vocals. What the hell is going on? I said it last week, the CG in Red vs. Blue is so far beyond what we saw last season, and I was blown away by what they churned out with Carolina’s episode with Church. What the hell, guys? How was this possible in less than a year?

The plot is rather simple for the “Capital Assets,” and floated from Chorus operative to Chorus operative, namely the captains that saved Chorus. Last week, we got what the mercs are up to, now, we get the Reds and Blues assimilating to what passes for peace time in Chorus. Of course, they’re being the most annoying people they can, while still being able to live within the means of the army. Actually, not much changed when it comes to the Captains.

If “Prologue” and “Capital Assets” are anything to go on, this season is going to be the grand finale to this three season arc. There hasn’t been a minute where I wasn’t intrigued or laughing my ass off during the last two weeks. And think about this. There’s still 17 or so episodes left in the season, and I’m this high on this show right now. Rooster Teeth does it again.
