English Dub Review: The Forsaken Saintess and Her Foodie Roadtrip in Another World “Crispy Solution, Crunchy Reconciliation! ‘Cause It’s Tempura!”
Overview:
They say a way to a dragon’s heart is through its stomach.
Our Take(Spoilers):
When the dragon that took Rin started talking to her, I thought we were onto something. You might recall that I was hoping we would get some insight into the saintess summoning because that’s starting to feel like a bigger deal than we were initially led to believe. Well, unfortunately, that’s going to have to wait a little longer again because this episode once again focused mostly on food and how Rin used it to solve a dragon-sized problem.
Mir is the name of the dragon, and she has chosen Rin to be her caretaker. The only problem is that Rin had no say in this, and she’s already technically a caretaker for her adventuring party. But as we’ve learned, Rin can convince anyone of anything when it comes to her cooking. I’ll be honest, watching this show when you’re hungry is a form of torture.
As I’ve mentioned, I am a sucker for a found family story, and seeing the entire gang willing to take on a dragon to save Rin warmed my heart. Luckily, no one needed to die because Rin was able to come to an agreement that was amenable to both parties.
The group was trying to get access to the hot springs back from Mir the dragon and were prepared for a tough fight. Now that Mir has been introduced to delicious food, she was willing to share the hot springs water she was born in, in exchange for the village bringing her some of their signature dishes.
Once again, we got another chill episode, and while I still love and enjoy it, there is a part of me that’s getting kind of annoyed with all the teasing about the saintess summoning. I’m hoping that we’ll get some more info on that soon, but there was a cool little thing I noticed in this episode that I want to close with.
I noticed that since Rin wasn’t around Goma to translate their thoughts, we weren’t able to hear them talk. Instead, we heard what the party typically hears, which is basically just a cat meowing. I thought this was a neat thing to do because it shows us what the rest of the crew hears and also illustrates how important Rin has become to her party, which was demonstrated in their hurried journey to rescue her.
