English Dub Review: Overgeared “Item Crafting Face-Off”
Overview
Grid faces Euphemina in a blacksmithing contest. The contest turns into an S-Ranked quest to rescue Huroi.
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, the latest installment delivers an entertaining mix of action and comedy as Grid faces Euphemina in an intense item-creation battle. Despite his questionable fighting abilities, Grid’s blacksmithing skills and powerful equipment continue to make his journey enjoyable, while his ridiculous lack of self-awareness provides plenty of laughs. With new challenges emerging and familiar characters returning to the spotlight, there’s plenty to look forward to.
The rest of the proceedings features some enjoyable character interactions, impressive magical effects, and some entertaining battles, although the adaptation still has a few rough edges. Certain details from the original manhwa are glossed over, making some moments less clear, while the animation and pacing could use a little more polish. Nevertheless, Grid and Euphemina’s amusing rivalry, Huroi’s memorable personality, and the unpredictable quest system help keep things engaging.
Overall, Overgeared continues to grow on me, offering enough humor, action, and interesting world-building to make it a worthwhile watch. Although the storytelling occasionally feels uneven and Grid’s obliviousness can get frustrating, the series still has plenty of potential to build upon. Hopefully, the next episode maintains the show’s entertaining qualities while delivering a more consistent adaptation.
