English Dub Review: Skeleton Knight in Another World “Reunited to the Sound of a Dark Beast’s Howl”
Overview
Arc and his party are reunited with Danka, who tells them about his mission and the threat to it.
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, Arc and the group continue toward Tajiento Village after learning that elves and beastmen have been disappearing. With no Driorgle birds available, Arc wrestles a Driftpus into submission for transportation, leaving Ariane miserable from motion sickness. They soon encounter the Tiger Clan, whose villages are being attacked by normally docile Giamiants. Arc steps in to help, while Ponta uncovers a disturbing connection behind the attacks. Meanwhile, Sekt gathers information about the Holy Revlon Empire, while a particularly unsettling development involving the Church raises even more questions.
The rest of the proceedings find a balance, its usual comedy combined with some darker developments. The squid puns return, Arc gets thrown around like a rag doll, and Ariane’s massage provides some amusing moments, while the introduction of the Tiger Clan adds some welcome world-building. Danka’s encounter with a mysterious undead warrior also becomes increasingly concerning, especially after Chiyome and Tsubone begin to suspect that someone from their past may be involved. There are plenty of questions surrounding the mysterious attacker, and the episode wisely leaves us wanting answers.
Overall, this was another solid episode that mixes comedy, action, and mystery without losing the adventurous spirit of the series. The arc continues to be entertaining as the group helps those in need, while Ariane, Chiyome, Danka, and Tsubone each get moments to contribute to the story. The final reveal gives the episode a particularly strong cliffhanger, setting up what could be a much more emotional chapter for Chiyome and the rest of the group.
