Our Take

Picking up from the previous episode, Leon takes on the ambitious role of supreme commander as the kingdom prepares for war, even resorting to blackmail to convince his reluctant friends to join him. Meanwhile, tensions within his family finally reach a breaking point, leading to some long-awaited consequences for those who betrayed him. With the kingdom’s situation becoming increasingly desperate, Leon is forced to take the coming conflict more seriously while trying to keep everyone around him from falling apart.

The rest of the proceedings also give Marie a much-needed moment of vulnerability as the pressure finally catches up with her. Her emotional breakdown adds some unexpected depth to her character, while her conversation with Leon sets up a major revelation that has been building for much of the series, and it handles this development with a surprisingly effective mix of emotion and comedy, especially considering how abruptly things take a turn near the end.

Overall, this was one of the more satisfying episodes of the season, delivering plenty of character development, long-awaited consequences, and some genuinely hilarious moments without giving away too much. Leon continues to grow more confident in his ability to lead, while the episode’s final revelation provides the biggest payoff yet and leaves plenty of questions about where these characters go from here. It feels like the story is finally starting to kick into high gear.
