Picking up from the previous episode, The Elusive Samurai puts Ayako more firmly in the spotlight while placing Tokiyuki in an increasingly tense situation. The episode does a great job showcasing Tokiyuki’s ability to remain calm under pressure as he navigates a dangerous verbal confrontation with Sadamune. Even without a traditional action sequence, their back-and-forth carries the intensity of a battle, with clever direction and visual storytelling making every exchange feel like a strategic move.

As a supporting character, Ayako also gets plenty of room to shine, highlighting her versatility through both her performance skills and combat ability. Her personality brings a great mix of humor, charm, and badassery to the episode, while her loyalty to Tokiyuki continues to make her an entertaining addition to the group. The contrast between the tense interrogation and the series’ wonderfully absurd visual humor also works surprisingly well, giving the episode plenty of personality without losing its dramatic tension.

Overall, this was a fantastic follow-up that proves *this show* can make even a simple conversation feel as thrilling as a full-blown battle.
