The Smith family is leaving Langley Falls behind and dropping straight into the loop. Epic Games has dropped a surprise teaser trailer confirming that characters from Seth MacFarlane’s hit animated sitcom, American Dad!, are officially joining the Fortnite universe.

The collaboration brings one of animation’s most famously unhinged households to the battle royale island, continuing Epic’s streak of translating iconic adult animation styles into the game.

Good Morning, Island! What the Teaser Reveals

The short, action-packed 27-second teaser gives fans a taste of how the Smith family fits into Fortnite’s chaotic landscape:

  • The Smith Residence: The trailer opens with a shot of the Smith family’s iconic yellow suburban home perfectly recreated on a tropical coastline of the Fortnite map.

  • The Smiths in Action: We see Stan Smith doing a classic cartoon dance in a bedroom before he and Francine strut out the front door. They’re quickly seen speeding through a town in an SUV, narrowly escaping a massive explosion outside a storefront.

  • Klaus and the Terror Meter: Fans of the show will spot multiple deep-cut references. At one point, Francine reaches into her purse to check a small device, and the camera cuts to Stan’s back, revealing the show’s signature Homeland Security Advisory System color-coded terror meter. Soon after, Francine is shown holding a bowl containing none other than Klaus Heisler, the family’s talking, German-accented goldfish, who appears to be reacting wildly to the battle royale madness.

Epic’s Animation Takeover Continues

American Dad! marks another high-profile collaboration between Epic Games and 20th Television. Fortnite has previously welcomed other major animated powerhouses, including massive crossovers with Family Guy (featuring Peter Griffin) and Futurama.

Like the Family Guy skins before them, the American Dad! characters utilize cel-shaded animation to keep their distinct 2D cartoon look while moving fluidly in Fortnite‘s 3D environment.

While Epic hasn’t dropped a precise release date or fully outlined all the cosmetics, the trailer implies players can expect Stan and Francine outfits, potential back blings or emotes featuring Klaus, and unique thematic gear to hit the Item Shop very soon.
