Our Take

Picking up from the previous episode, Arc and Ariane arrive in Hoban City, a diverse trading hub that may be connected to the recent kidnappings. Their investigation leads them to Shil, a street performer secretly involved with the criminals after being pressured by his sister’s injury and the need for money. While the situation turns out to be more complicated than expected, Arc and Ariane uncover the truth, rescue the victims, and put an end to another trafficking operation. The episode also delivers one of its funniest moments when Ariane accidentally consumes alcohol-infused meat, resulting in a hilariously chaotic night that even leaves Ponta suffering the consequences.

Although the rest of the proceedings have some entertaining character moments, it continues the season’s trend of focusing on smaller side stories rather than pushing the main plot forward. The investigation itself follows a familiar pattern that Arc and Ariane have already dealt with before, making the conflict feel somewhat repetitive despite the different circumstances surrounding Shil and his sister…

Overall, this was another enjoyable but somewhat slow-paced episode that relies heavily on Arc and Ariane’s chemistry to carry the experience. Drunk Ariane remains an absolute highlight, and seeing Arc’s unwavering kindness mixed with his brutal treatment of criminals continues to be entertaining. However, the repeated focus on kidnapping and trafficking plots has made the season feel like it is lingering on smaller detours instead of advancing the larger story. Hopefully the series can soon return to the momentum it built previously in later episodes.
