The Final Jackpot: Netflix Renews “Devil May Cry” for Third and Final Season
Netflix has officially greenlit a third season of its hit animated adaptation “Devil May Cry,” locking it in as the final chapter of the series. According to Deadline, the streaming giant has opted to bring creator and showrunner Adi Shankar’s urban fantasy epic to a definitive, planned conclusion with its upcoming third run.
A Planned Three-Part Saga
The final season order comes hot on the heels of Season 2, which hit the platform on May 12, 2026. For fans tracking the lightning-fast production cycles, the final renewal isn’t a shock. Insiders suggest the series was structured similarly to other major animated projects like Sonic Prime, where a large batch of episodes (around 24 in total) was pre-produced by Studio Mir and split into three distinct, narrative-driven acts.
By locking in Season 3 as the definitive end, the creative team has the rare opportunity to bypass the dread of sudden streaming cancellations and deliver a fully realized conclusion to Dante and Vergil’s tumultuous relationship.
Resolving the Blood Feud
The series, which originally debuted in April 2025 to a massive audience of over five million viewers in its first week alone, has successfully modernized Capcom’s legendary video game lore.
Led by veteran voice actor Johnny Yong Bosch as Dante, the show has spent two seasons building out a complex urban fantasy world. The narrative has masterfully balanced the high-octane action of Dante’s mercenary work with the lingering tragedy of his family’s past, specifically his pathological hatred of demons following the murder of his mother, Eva.
Heading into the final season, the stakes are at an absolute melting point:
-
The Twin Conflict: With Dante and his twin brother Vergil (Robbie Daymond) locked in an ideological and physical battle as equals, the finale is set to deliver the ultimate clash of Sparda’s bloodline.
-
The Darkcom Front: The fallout of Lady’s (Scout Taylor-Compton) dark narrative turn and the looming threat of the demon emperor Mundus still hanging over the human world.
-
The Musical Identity: The final season is also expected to feature a brand-new, premium electronic and rock soundscape handled by synthwave powerhouse Power Glove, carrying on the tradition of the show’s praised sonic identity.
Production on the final block of episodes is already well underway. Netflix is expected to announce the official release date and drop the first teaser trailer for the final chapter later this winter.
