Review: Aeronautica Imperialis “Turn The Tide Of Battle”

Overview:

Warhammer Plus has recently debuted the latest episode of Aeronautica Imperialis, “Turn The Tide Of Battle,” which explores the ongoing fight between the Imperial Navy and the Aeldari.

Our Take:

The Aeronautica Imperialis deals with a growing number of casualties amid the conflict. In the wake of an attack, wrecks seemed to have transformed the setting into a virtual graveyard. One even gets the impression that Kae lasts as long as she had simply because we need to keep her around as a protagonist. In a world seemingly in a perpetual state between life and death, it can seem like prayer is the only option.

During the last episode, the Aeldari proved surprisingly sympathetic, wondering why the factions keep attacking even after so many are killed. Even here this theme is continued. While the fighters mourn the loss of their own numbers, the Aeldari seem to mourn the lives they had to take. Even their base seems to lack for life.

Of course, this does make sense, as they are a dying race. Of course, they also forlornly share that “Death” is not for them. As those familiar with the game may know, the Aeldari were once like phoenixes, being able to regenerate their lives from their very souls, meaning death had little consequence to them. However, even when it seems that Waystones could contain, and protect, their souls, it soon became clear that even spirits could find themselves in danger. As the story’s conclusion draws near, one has to wonder about the implications.

Overall, the story could have easily gotten away with just focusing heavily on the action, but it still manages to make viewers think with a few poignant lines. That said, one of the bigger draws that the series offers so far is its settings. In this episode, viewers are even treated to a busy facility.
