English Dub Review: Mistress Kanan Is Devilishly Easy “Kanan Returns To Her Family”

Overview:

Kanan introduces Kyougi to her family, and they work on getting approval for their relationship.

Our Take:

We get to meet all of Kanan’s family, and it’s made up of all the tropes you would expect. A loli sister who’s wearing next to nothing? Check! Overbearing Dad? Check! Another sister whose quirk we don’t know yet? Also check! And finally, a big tittied milf character? Check! To make her a bit unique, they have her be deathly afraid of men. I do like how they’re willing to accept Kanan and Kyougi’s relationship, but first, they have to earn “stamps of approval.”

The mom being so deathly afraid of men leaves me with a bunch of questions. She has three children, so umm, how did that happen? We didn’t see her interact with her husband much to get a baseline of her phobia, but when Kyougi is within five feet of her, she freaks out. There’s a part where she touches Kyougi and doesn’t freak out. She mentions that he’s the first man she’s touched other than her husband. Maybe they’ll get into that more in the following episodes, but it was a weird thing to think about. I hope we learn what makes the rest of her family tick because they seem one-note on the surface, but there might be more underneath.
