Our Take

Picking up from the previous episode, the series delivers its most emotional look yet into the past with another obligatory flashback episode that finally provides greater context for the bonds shared between several key characters. Through a combination of striking visual presentation and heartfelt performances, the episode explores themes of friendship, loss, and the lasting impact of trauma. While much of the story revisits familiar events, the added perspective gives several relationships far more emotional weight.

The episode’s strongest aspect is undoubtedly its execution. The voice acting is exceptional throughout, capturing the desperation, grief, and affection that define these characters’ experiences. The artistic decision to contrast monochrome imagery with carefully placed bursts of color also enhances the emotional atmosphere, creating some of the series’ most memorable visuals. Even the quieter moments carry a sense of melancholy, making the eventual dramatic turns hit especially hard.

Overall, this is a beautifully produced and emotionally charged episode that deepens the audience’s understanding of the characters while reinforcing the tragedy at the heart of the story. Although some viewers may find the repeated focus on past events a bit slow, the powerful performances, gorgeous presentation, and emotional resonance make it a compelling chapter that effectively builds anticipation for what comes next.
