English Dub Review: Agents of the Four Seasons “Afterimage”
Overview
Hinagiku and Sakura are waiting to meet the Winter duo at the Agency when the building comes under attack.
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, the story has finally shifted into high gear with one of its most eventful and emotionally intense episodes yet. After weeks of buildup, multiple storylines begin converging at once as betrayals, attacks, and long-awaited conversations push the narrative forward. The episode does a great job balancing large-scale chaos with intimate character moments, creating a constant sense of urgency that had me fully invested from start to finish.
The emotional core remains Hinagiku and Sakura. Hinagiku’s struggle to see her own worth continues to be one of the series’ strongest aspects, while Sakura receives some fantastic moments that highlight both her vulnerabilities and her strength. The action scenes are among the season’s best, particularly when the production finally lets Sakura shine, and the voice acting across the board elevates several already powerful scenes. While some of the series’ pacing issues and repeated emotional beats still linger, the tension, revelations, and cliffhanger more than make up for it here.
Overall, with only three episodes remaining, this felt like the kind of episode the series desperately needed. It delivers meaningful story progression, raises the stakes considerably, and leaves several major conflicts hanging in the balance. And excels at making the endgame feel much closer, while also reminding viewers why these characters and their relationships remain the heart of the story. Hopefully, they keep the momentum going after this.
