English Dub Review: Oshi no Ko “Breakdown”

Overview:

Kana has bounced back, but the scandal still looms large.

Our Take(Spoilers):

Look, I love Kana as much as the next person, but you have to feel for Akane. Sure, the guy who tried to kill her (seemingly) did so by accident and isn’t related to her investigation. But not only does that happen, but Aqua has been using her by bugging a gift he gave her, ends their relationship, and gives a tabloid the story about Ai to save Kana from her scandal. While she always knew that Aqua cared for Kana, seeing the lengths he was willing to go to was probably hurtful.

I always thought the star symbols in Aqua and Ruby’s eyes were a way to indicate they were related to Ai and maybe to show “star power.” There was the time that Akane had stars in her eyes, I suppose, but now I’m starting to think I don’t understand the symbolism behind them. Aqua’s hasn’t been showing ever since he mellowed out, and ever since Ruby went on the attack, she’s had two of them. Now that Aqua is on the warpath again, both of his eyes got the star going. I wish Kana could see all the things that Aqua has done for her, but I don’t know if it would change anything.
