English Dub Review: Kill Blue “There’s a Unicorn Up Ahead”
Overview
Juzo and the Home Ec Club bring rice balls to the baseball team, where they meet elite “Unicorn”” Tenma Tendo. An ace in baseball, soccer, and basketball, Tenma boasts that he’ll become a “triple threat superhuman.” When he challenges Juzo to futsal simply because he’s “in the way” and mocks the Home Ec Club as a pointless play club, Juzo accepts.
Our Take
Kill Blue shifts into a more grounded yet fun direction as Juzo begins settling further into his school life. Between exam-season stress, awkward misunderstandings, and a glimpse into the small circle of people who truly know his secret, the episode does a great job of showing how much his new life has started to matter to him. What once felt like a temporary mission now genuinely resembles the youth and friendships he never had the chance to experience before.
The arrival of a new rival quickly changes the mood, however, introducing a highly competitive athlete whose arrogance immediately clashes with the Home Economics Club and Juzo himself. The conflict is less about romance and more about pride, status, and respect, especially after the club and Noren are looked down upon. Watching Juzo step forward not out of obligation, but because he genuinely cares about the people around him, gives the episode a stronger emotional core beneath all the comedy and over-the-top personalities.
Overall, this was a fun and energetic episode that balances character growth with a classic shounen rivalry setup. The humor remains sharp, especially during Noren’s misunderstandings and Juzo’s awkward double life, while the introduction of the new challenger raises the stakes entertainingly. More importantly, the episode highlights how attached Juzo has become to his classmates, making his reactions feel increasingly personal rather than purely professional.
