English Dub Review: Farming Life in Another World “Another Peaceful Day”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
From curing an illness to cultivating new crops to even Mountain Elves curating Hiraku’s favor, life in the Great Tree Village is never dull.

Our Take:
Following the festival’s intense yet low-stakes tournament, the show returns to its usual tranquil duties of running the multiple villages we’re familiar with.  That competition was at least the most exciting part of the second season, if not the entire series.  However, that doesn’t mean there wasn’t a lot of stuff that happened that kept me mildly entertained amid its low, peaceful stakes.  One of the duties presented in this episode has Hiraku learning a new Korin religion from Vargryfe and a priestess named Fuushu.  Afterward, Hiraku and the others are tasked with conjuring up a cure for a mysterious illness that’s affecting Fuushu’s son, resulting in a brief collect-a-thon that ended with the destruction of Flora’s workshop.  The episode’s second half then explores the wine slime’s parachute testing and another food category that Hiraku and the residents discover: nuts.  Walnuts, almonds, cashews, you name it, the new trees Hiraku unintentionally grew have them.
This further emphasizes one of the show’s most interesting aspects: the discoverability of certain ingredients and the knowledge of Japanese cuisine.  I’m not sure why, but my interest usually peaks when a series or movie depicts characters making food, notably ones from Japan.  That might’ve explained why I enjoyed Japanese food so much or something.  Either way, my enjoyment towards Hiraku and the others making or discovering food remains, as “Another Peaceful Day” delivered exactly what we expected.  It’s another calm and “ordinary” day in the new life as the village’s mayor, although this one ended with another woman, Lady Ya, having a crush on him.  Unsurprisingly, it didn’t turn out well as she had hoped it would.
