English Dub Review: Classroom of the Elite “A Disquieting Beginning”

Overview:

The deserted island special test finally begins.

Our Take(Spoilers):

In the opening scene, we see why Nanase has a grudge against Ayanokoji. Someone close to her killed themselves because of Ayanokoji. We don’t know if this was a family member, friend, or even a lover, but what we do know is that she thinks Ayanokoji had something to do with it. I don’t think this means she’s the white room student; in fact, I would argue this proves that she’s not. It seems that she’s going to stick close to him during the exam. Don’t get me wrong, Ayanokoji isn’t exactly a good guy, but I don’t think he would kill someone.

This was one of the best episodes thus far because before I knew it, the episode was over. I completely forgot that Ayanokoji is taking the exam on his own. It almost seemed like one of the teachers was hitting on him. Which leads me to another point I want to bring up.

When it comes to this exam, anything goes. Fighting is okay within reason, obviously murder and death aren’t allowed, but that’s still not great. Sexual conduct will not be admonished, but sexual misconduct will, which I think we can all agree is a good thing. I looked up the episode count for this season, and we’re getting sixteen episodes. I suppose I’ll forgive them for taking a while to get going then.
