English Dub Review: Chained Soldier “Slave: Heaven”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
Yuuki and Kyouka have come a long way, and they’ve forged a bond strong enough to stand against a god.  But even if they win this battle, the war is far from over.

Our Take:
A showdown this epic deserves one last ace in the hole to determine victory or defeat.  The penultimate episode of season two is no exception, as Yuuki and Kyouka pull out their final shot at defeating Kuusetsu: the Heavenward form.  The bond between Yuuki and Kyouka has been one of the crucial aspects of the series since Yuuki first joined the Defense Force, not to mention one of the most entertaining.  With this episode, we get to see this master/slave relationship pay off with the form they’ve been practicing for a while.  Unsurprisingly, Yuuki’s new form paid off extremely well.
“Slave: Heaven” delivered an exciting conclusion to the Yokohama showdown that ended in Kuusetsu’s defeat.  But, as it turns out, this dangerous god isn’t actually really gone, as she’s now stuck inside Yuuki’s mind due to the nectar that Yuuki drank during their first encounter.  Fortunately, it looks like Kuusetsu won’t be doing something awful in her new position, though that doesn’t mean things between her and Yuuki won’t be getting more lewd regarding his dreams.  While it may not top the Azuma Banquet arc as my highlight of season two, it provides enough exhilarating moments to maintain the excitement of the Defense Force’s first confrontation with one of the Thunder Gods.  Although this high-stakes showdown against a god is over, there’s still one scenario left until this overall mission is accomplished.
