English Dub Review: Agents of the Four Seasons “Alone Together”
Overview
Hinagiku and Sakura approach the Village of Spring, recalling painful memories.
Our Take
Picking up from the previous two episodes, Agents of the Four Seasons delivers one of its most emotionally devastating chapters yet by diving deeper into Hinagiku and Sakura’s shared past. As the two continue bringing Spring to Teishuu Island, the episode slows down to focus almost entirely on the loneliness, abandonment, and emotional scars both girls have carried since childhood. There’s also something especially ironic and honestly cruel about this specific episode, which centered around mothers, loss, and parental pain right around Mother’s Day, which only made several scenes land even harder emotionally.
Much of the episode explores Hinagiku’s tragic upbringing and the cold treatment she received from the very people who should have protected her. Instead of finding comfort within the Spring Village, she grew up isolated and blamed for circumstances far beyond her control, making Sakura’s companionship become the one genuine source of warmth in her life. Sakura’s own experiences with abandonment mirror Hinagiku’s struggles closely, and the series does an excellent job showing how their bond was formed through shared pain and understanding. Combined with Kensuke Ushio’s beautiful soundtrack and the show’s soft yet melancholic visual direction, the emotional atmosphere throughout the episode felt consistently powerful.
Overall, this episode further cemented Hinagiku and Sakura as the emotional heart of the series while delivering some of the strongest character-focused storytelling so far. Their relationship continues to feel incredibly sincere, built on mutual support and the fear of being left alone again. Between the heartbreaking backstory reveals, the reflective pacing, and the stunning presentation, the episode managed to feel both comforting and crushing at the same time, leaving behind a lingering emotional weight long after it ended.
