English Dub Review: Jack-of-All-Trades, Party of None “The Jack-of-All-Trades Protects His Comrades”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
With his students in danger, Orun is forced to act fast in his battle with the Black Dragon.
Our Take:
With Orun’s unmatched speed and immaculate abilities, he’s not only able to defeat the Black Dragon again but also save Sophia and the others from Scion and her party. I guess choosing between one or the other isn’t much of a big deal when you combine your weak skills into an unstoppable arsenal. However, that doesn’t mean that his rivals are down and out, as they’re still determined to prevent the adventurers from clearing them. But given Scion’s history with Orun, their next confrontation will surely be their personal yet, particularly in the already-announced second season. Additionally, it seems that the upcoming season two would focus on an upcoming combat tournament that Orun might be training for, which begs the question of whether his swords and magic can rival other types of combat, let alone Oliver’s strength.
With these arcs coming up in the jack-of-all-trades’s second chapter, it remains uncertain whether they’ll help the anime improve on its familiar concept. Until we know for sure, I can feel pretty relieved that Orun’s similar journey from banished hero to Sky Rabbits member is over for now. Don’t get me wrong. The anime offers a few enjoyable moments that help overcome most of its formulaic shortcomings, including Orun’s first fight with the Black Dragon. Other than that, it’s another straightforward addition to the “banished hero” genre that lacks any new spells to master its tropes.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
