English Dub Review: Trigun Stargaze “The Hurt Locker”

Overview:

As the arrival of the fleet is imminent, both factions begin preparations for the showdown.

Our Take:

It’s been five months of endless torture for Van. Legato has been the one torturing him, and it almost seems like he’s torturing himself as well. From what I can tell, he hasn’t slept or anything while he’s been terrorizing Van. This leads to him being sloppy when Wolfwood comes to help Van escape. But as you can imagine, the escape runs into some problems. Livio is somehow still alive and now is more advanced somehow. I’ll admit I barely remembered him, but I vaguely remember him and Wolfwood having a duel of sorts.

I normally don’t like CGI in anime, but the way this show handles it is fantastic. It’s 3-D, but somehow there are parts that look hand drawn. I like how the show looks but I’ll be honest, I’m a little lost as to what is going. Vash and Knives are plants and plants are somehow power sources that can be alive and humanoid. They exist to help humans and will burn themselves out to help them. It’s an interesting premise but maybe I’m too dumb for this show because I feel like I need it spelled out a little more.
