English Dub Review: Jujutsu Kaisen “Tokyo Colony No. 1 – Part 4”
OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)
Megumi faces Reggie Star and his makeshift band of minions, but suddenly receives unexpected help from a passing comedian, Fumihiko Takaba.
OUR TAKE
After last week solely focused on Yuji’s fight, this and next week’s episode are all about Megumi getting the spotlight. And he could really use it because just about everyone has been showing him up lately, whether it’s Maki and her righteous slaughter of the Zenin Clan or Yuta styling on everyone with his incredibly overpowered Curse abilities. Yeah, Megumi got that fight with Panda against Kirara, but that was a team fight and didn’t really finish. This time the focus is all his!..well, aside from this funny guy who just suddenly showed up. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Takaba, who got a little bit of an appearance prior to being in the Culling Game, but like with Higuruma, it looks like he just got his Cursed Technique and is going a lot farther than anyone probably expected, including him. This will be revealed later, but the main point of his abilities is that whatever he thinks would be the most funny is what he’s able to do or cause to happen. It’s a good thing then that nobody else needs to think it’s funny too, otherwise he would be completely powerless, as his horrifically cringe puns can only make everyone shift uncomfortably. That is, until he starts kicking their asses and realize they need to pay attention.
We’ll see more of this funny guy next week, so let’s focus on the bigger fight between Megumi and Reggie, and it turns out this is probably the perfect opponent for someone who relies on Shikigami. Reggie made his entrance wearing what seemed to be a frilly poncho of some kind, but we see now that it is actually made of paper receipts, each of which he can burn to make what they’re for appear. This can range from tools he can use or weapons he can attack with to even replenishing his stamina by using a receipt for a multiple night stay at a spa, with massage! And for all his bluster and unshakable aura, Megumi still hasn’t quite nailed down the barrier for his Domain Expansion, so he’s forced to use an empty gymnasium in order to lure Reggie in. How will he pull this plan off against an ancient reincarnated sorcerer like Reggie? Find out next week in the penultimate episode of this chunk of the season, as well as the conclusion to the arc within Tokyo Colony 1!

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
