English Dub Review: Jack-of-All-Trades, Party of None “The Jack-of-All-Trades Has a Bad Feeling”

Overview (Spoilers Below):

Orun goes on his first dungeon dive with his new party.

Our Take:

Orun’s first dungeon adventure with his new members turns out to be a lot more relaxing compared to his previous dungeon raid.  Sure, Unit 1 seemed to be quite hesitant towards Orun’s decision to include the Black Dragon’s scale in his new weapon.  But, other than that minor issue, their quest to collect sheep skins is surprisingly smooth sailing.  That quest, in particular, involves Orun and the others collecting Noxious-sheep skins from one of the dungeon floors.  However, the only creatures standing in their way are Earth Dragons, which resemble T. Rexes more than actual dragons.  So, if you’re hoping for another action-packed episode involving Orun and the others utilizing his powerful skills, you’ll certainly get it only in its first half.

This is more along the lines of Orun’s experience with Unit 1 and how their skills in the dungeon make him feel confident of their progress without his assistance.  Plus, it was nice to see Orun letting loose, especially after the hardships he went through with Oliver’s Hero Party.  However, it also shows that relaxing and letting loose aren’t without some potential consequences, as Selma got a bit too carried away while having drinks with the team.  Regarding this episode, Jack-of-All-Trades attempts to combine the typical adventurer action narrative with some occurrences of the party hanging out outside their dungeon assignments.  The result is pretty middle-of-the-road in its narrative, particularly the obvious love triangle between Orun and the two sisters.  However, that doesn’t mean it lacked a few humorous moments that I admittedly enjoyed, including Orun’s nervousness around girls.
