Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, the conflict on the island intensifies as the battle against the Tensen continues. This episode expands on the history of the two Tensen plant creatures, Ju Fa and Tao Fa, revealing that their connection runs far deeper than it first appeared. Their past adds unexpected emotional weight to the confrontation and highlights how the island’s harsh conditions shaped their roles in the story. At the same time, the episode briefly explores the background of the burly Samurai Tamiya, offering insight into the philosophy and training that helped shape his resolve as a swordsman.
Beyond the narrative developments, the rest of the proceedings stand out for their striking direction and presentation. The flashback sequences are particularly memorable, featuring creative storyboards, cinematic framing, and expressive animation that give the episode a distinct visual style. Even in quieter moments, the character acting remains fluid and engaging, while the battle scenes maintain a strong sense of intensity. This balance between character exploration and action helps make the episode feel both emotionally grounded and visually impressive.
Overall, the episode delivers a strong combination of character depth, stylish direction, and impactful action. By expanding on multiple characters, including both allies and antagonists, adding greater context to the ongoing conflict without losing its momentum. With tensions continuing to rise and more pieces moving into place, the series steadily builds toward an even larger confrontation ahead.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
