English Dub Review: Hana-Kimi “I Was the Same”

Overview:

Nakatsu finds out that Dorm 1 has a plot against Mizuki. He tells Sano, but Mizuki has already been kidnapped!

Our Take:

The way I understand it is that this was the last episode for this season of Hana-Kimi, and I couldn’t be happier. I don’t mean to shit on this show, but I can’t think of a single episode I enjoyed, and this one was no different. Nothing of note happened in what I think is the point of the story, but we sure got another episode of Mizuki being put into an awkward situation she needed “rescued” from again.

I really wish Sano would let Mizuki and Nakatsu know that Mizuki is a girl, and he knows. It just seems like a whole lot of weird problems could be solved by doing that. Mizuki had a hard time sleeping one night, and when she got out of bed, she woke up Sano, who offered to let her sleep in his bed. This was an example of what I was talking about because Sano is clearly half-asleep, so what he’s doing is basically reflex, but Mizuki doesn’t find it weird? The whole situation has become laughably unbelievable.
