English Dub Review: Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End “A Demon-Slaying Request”

Overview:

A village on the Northern Plateau is wiped out, and the victims’ distinctive wounds point to a certain demon.

Our Take(Spoilers):

I’m glad that I decided to do a rewatch of the first season of Frieren because it refreshes my memory of certain characters from the first-class mage exam. Genau was a proctor of the exam, and Methode took the exam along with Frieren and Fern. This is eventually told to us by Frieren, but I might have been confused at first if not. I hope this is a sign that we might get to see more characters from the exam because watching that arc again makes me realize how many awesome characters were introduced. It would be a shame if they were just one-off characters.

But to the present, it seems that a village was destroyed by demons, and it happens to be the village that was Genau’s hometown. Frieren and her group almost attacked Genau and Methode until they realized what was happening. Stark and Methode were trying to figure out how the people were killed and came to the conclusion that they were killed by a demon wielding four swords.

We got to see this demon in small bits, and something tells me this demon will be the main villain moving forward. There are only four episodes left in this season, so it will have to be a pretty quick arc. With as menacing as this demon seems, I would like a bit more buildup, but we’ll have to see what happens.
