English Dub Review: Dark Moon: The Blood Altar “Hazy Moon – Vargr’s Blood”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Dardan faces the lycanthrope, who is the final key to his ritual, and the boys head to the altar.
Our Take:
It looks like the werewolf boys aren’t going anywhere without a fight, as Dardan has interrupted their little rescue mission to save their kin. However, this battle proved short-lived because Dardan needed Kahn, who had been chosen as the lycanthrope, for his ritual. This sets the stage for the ultimate confrontation, with the vampires and werewolves teaming up against a common enemy. Given that we’re close to the end of the series, there’s no doubt that the battle between the powered beings and Dardan will have some stakes involved. In addition to the boys’ race against the clock to stop the ritual, the penultimate episode also has Kahn getting his shining moment in terms of rescuing the werewolves.
We previously learned that Kahn couldn’t fully transform into a werewolf like the others. However, thanks to the discovery of his being Vargr’s chosen lycanthrope, Kahn was given the opportunity to fulfill that destiny and finally evolve. He’s no longer the runt of the litter now that he’s able to hold his ground against Dardan and free his kin. It’s too bad that his blood is what Dardan needs to complete the ritual. Assuming he and the others survive the now-powerful First Vampire, the episode provides a satisfying conclusion to Kahn’s arc, showing his growth from a powerless puppy to a ferocious lycanthrope. In short, it’s got enough bite in its fangs to commence the final showdown between the vampiric students and Dardan.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
