Monster Battle!OverviewZombieman faces a Vampire named “Pureblood”, a descendant of a supernatural bloodline, in a brutal, deadly showdown. Our Take Picking up from the previous episode, this chapter finally gives the supporting character Zombieman a long-overdue spotlight, and conceptually, it’s a great fit. His brutal & relentless, horror-tinged fighting style and sheer refusal to stay down make for one of the episode’s most memorable matchups, reinforcing why he stands out among the S-Class despite limited screen time. Where the episode stumbles is in execution rather than intent. While there are flashes of strong characterization, particularly in how ruthless and unsettling certain heroes come across, the visuals and direction struggle to match the material’s weight, often undercutting impact with awkward cuts, rushed confrontations, and noticeable production shortcuts. These issues are especially frustrating because the ideas are solid, and the sound design and music frequently hint at a far stronger episode than whatever is animated on screen.Overall, this is a frustrating yet oddly engaging episode that highlights both the strengths and weaknesses of the season in equal measure. Zombieman’s showcase and the darker tonal beats remind viewers why this arc resonates so strongly in concept, even as inconsistent animation and pacing dilute its punch. It’s an episode that works best if you focus on the characters and atmosphere rather than the polish, offering moments of genuine hype while reinforcing the sense that the adaptation isn’t always living up to its own potential.
