English Dub Review: My Hero Academia: Vigilantes “Episode 8”
Overview:
The moment that turns Aizawa into Eraserhead approaches. This defining moment etches itself onto his heart.
Our Take:
I don’t claim to be an expert in making story layouts or anything of the sort. But these episodes showing how Aizawa came to be the person he is feel like required viewing for any My Hero Academia fan. I already liked Aizawa, but this arc made him one of my favorites. We knew something bad happened to Shirakumo during an operation, but seeing it in real time was tough to watch. One moment, we’re rooting and cheering while watching Aizawa take down this giant villain, the next tragedy strikes. What should be a proud and happy moment becomes a defining and tragic one instead.
Vigilantes is a side story, yes, but at this point, it feels like something that should be watched if you call yourself a fan of this franchise. All of this, and I keep forgetting to talk about how the music icon Prince is seemingly a hero in this universe. I think that shows how impactful this arc was that I forgot to bring that up. Not only does he look like Prince, but he acts like a Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure character. Side stories are often used to take big swings at things that you might not do in a main series. Well, this swing was a hit.
