Review: Feride vs. the World “Episode 2”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
After a string of unsuccessful romantic pursuits, Feride realizes that she’s still hung up on an ex.
Our Take:
There’s no doubt that life presents many complex challenges. In Feride’s case, one obstacle she’s struggling to overcome is love, as evidenced by the first episode, which features her relationship drama. This week’s episode continues this quest for love through a series of awkward encounters, including Feride making a guy fall in love with her, only to get dumped after she’s banned from a soccer stadium. Another example is Feride meeting a guy who happens to be the CEO of the company she’s working for. Unfortunately, that chance at love didn’t last long because her boss’s baby took over the company instead. The episode also features Feride discovering that she was still clinging to her ex-boyfriend, Ismet, during a bachelorette party, although it didn’t exactly reveal how she got past it.
In short, the episode further showcased the series’s structure, which provided several short misfortunes that didn’t get resolved or lacked the charm and effort put into their episodic dilemmas. In most cases, it could be both. With the episode’s theme centered on love, this could’ve been where the show shines, with its adult humor and characters, particularly Feride’s coming-of-age journey. Instead, it finds itself still stuck in a rut due to its dull humor and uninteresting scenarios. Additionally, the episode’s final short involving therapy has nothing to do with love. It’s basically Feride and Pinar going to different therapies, with the latter being duped by a scam artist. Like the previous shorts in the episode, this one has a pretty downer ending for Pinar, but not in a darkly humorous way.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
