Review: Universal Basic Guys “Skyboys”
Overview
Mark buys a jetpack. David wants to serve omakase at a soup kitchen
Our Take
And that’s a wrap on Universal Basic Guys for a while as we won’t get new episodes until February 2026 and what a season it has been so far. David serving sushi at a soup kitchen can skip rocks, this week’s episode is classic UBG with Mark spending his money on dumb shit for all of our enjoyment. The result is a premise like this…jetpacks.
As the Scottish band would tell you, we were all promised jetpacks years ago and while we still await Tesla or somebody else to finally get to those we’ve got the Hoagie bros to help us out sweetened with Hank’s new drone which I hope makes another appearance sometime down the road. It should also be noted that we never actually see Mark return the jetpack which makes me wonder if the former hot dog producer adds this to his collection of shit in the garage featuring other items from the show’s past that also includes a crossbow.
This week’s episode also gets a VERY impressive list of guest stars which is becoming that much more impressive as time goes on with the likes of Chris Meloni, Jermaine Fowler, and Matt Jones contributing this week in spades. Overall, a great way to wrap 2025 for Universal Basic Guys, television’s #1 animated comedy in the ratings.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
