English Dub Review: Dusk Beyond the End of the World “In the North After Doomsday”

Overview:

Akira needs answers. But between an android insisting on marriage and an aspiring storybook artist, his search for the past may lead him somewhere entirely unexpected instead.

Our Take(Spoilers):

I’m going to give this show the benefit of the doubt for now. The story still seems intriguing, and the animation is good, but I’m a little concerned about repeating plot points. This is the second episode in a row where Akira is betrayed by someone who he thinks is helping him. Reusing plot points isn’t a deal-breaking sin by any means, but I just hope that it doesn’t happen every episode.

If I had to guess, it won’t be an every episode situation because the new character we’re introduced to is in the ED and most of the promotional material. Meanwhile, I’m wondering why all of the androids look like Towasa. Did she create them that way, or what’s the reason?

The post-apocalyptic world is fascinating, and I don’t want to spend a bunch of time on betrayal after betrayal. Next episode, I think, will clear up any issues I might be having with the plot structure. If Akira gets betrayed again, he might just be a dumbass.
