NETFLIX ANNOUNCES ‘LOVE THROUGH A PRISM’: WIT Studio & Boys Over Flowers Creator Team Up for 1900s London Art Academy Romance

Netflix is set to debut a stunning new animated series that transports viewers to early-1900s London, blending high-stakes drama with blossoming romance within the halls of a prestigious art institution. Love Through a Prism, an original anime series, is confirmed to premiere exclusively on Netflix on January 15, 2026.

The series boasts a remarkable pedigree, bringing together two titans of the industry: Yoko Kamio, the legendary creator behind the globally successful manga Boys Over Flowers, and WIT Studio, the acclaimed animation house known for its breathtaking visual flair in titles like Attack on Titan and SPY x FAMILY. Directing the 20-episode series is Kazuto Nakazawa (B: The Beginning, Kill Bill: Volume 1 anime sequence).

The Plot: Pressure and Passion in London

Love Through a Prism is a cross-cultural, coming-of-age story centered at the esteemed Saint Thomas Art Academy.

The protagonist is Lili Ichijoin, a determined Japanese exchange student voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki (SPY x FAMILY). Lili arrives in England under intense pressure from her parents, who demand she achieve top-of-class status within six months or be forced to return home, abandoning her dream of becoming a painter.

Lili’s ambitious drive immediately collides with the talent of Kit Church (voiced by Koki Uchiyama, Jujutsu Kaisen), a gifted young aristocrat known for his skill and detached demeanor. While Kit has devoted his life entirely to painting, Lili’s sincerity and persistent resilience begin to thaw his guarded exterior. Despite having little in common besides their deep-seated love for art, their complex relationship quickly becomes the central focus of life at the academy.

Kamio’s Vision: Hope and Courage

Yoko Kamio, following the global triumph of Boys Over Flowers, introduces a new protagonist who shares a similar conviction, pushing past societal boundaries and differences in background.

In a statement, Kamio expressed her hopes for the series’ message: “This is the story of Lili, who blazes through her time with love, courage and romance. In our society where it is becoming difficult to talk about hopes and dreams, and where common things we take for granted are fading away, I hope this series can be a light for those who watch it.”

The newly released trailer and key art showcase the beautiful fusion of Kamio’s emotional narrative with WIT Studio’s signature visual flair, setting the intricate drama against the backdrop of grand London avenues and the quiet, creative corners of the art academy. The series’ youthful energy is further amplified by the theme song, “star flower” by Chilli Beans., promising a tale full of freedom and youthful ambition.
