English Dub Review: Tougen Anki “Anger vs Anger”

The Momotaro begin their assault on the Oni hideout.

Our Take(Spoilers):

I know that Tougen Anki is a shonen show, and I shouldn’t be surprised when fights happen. But I have to say that the last few episodes that have had minimal fighting have been some of my favorites. We were focusing on the characters, and a tense cat-and-mouse game was being played between Shiki and Mikado. Neither Shiki nor Mikado knew they were playing a game like that, but that’s what ultimately happened. The thing I loved most was that the Oni caught on to what Momoiwa’s ability was and put VR goggles over Kougasaki’s eyes to trick Momoiwa.

It seems like the fun I was finally having watching this show is coming to an end. The fight between Yaoroshi and Momokado was entertaining enough, but it doesn’t make me feel anything. My Hero Academia is nothing but fights at this point in its story as well, but I feel a lot more invested. I understand that might not be the fairest comparison, but I’m trying to show that it’s not just the fighting that bores me. I am looking forward to the fight between Shiki and Mikado, so maybe that will save some of it.
