English Dub Review: Let’s Play “Witch, Wizard, Sword Master and The King of Beasts”

OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)

Riddled with guilt, Marshall tries paying Sam the money he made on the video that tanked her game, but she refuses. Later, Sam discusses potential romance with a friend.

OUR TAKE

Well well well, now the shoe’s on the other foot, isn’t it Marshall? After Sam’s (kinda dramatic) “reintroduction” to him, Marshall is now very much aware of the damage he caused, and it turns out that Sam was actually one of his earliest fans, so this double hurts! Actually there’s a lot of “it turns outs” in this episode with other characters, but we’ll get to that. Marshall’s first course of recompense is trying to pay Sam the money he got from the video about her game, though she refuses. He also suggests to Monica that he just tell the trolls to back off of Ruminate, though she warns him that they’ll just go after him next if he does that. And maybe this is coming, but a better solution seems quite obvious to me: he should just re-review the game and play it in the way Sam intended it to be played, so it can be judged on its own terms instead of by the flawed means he did before. But it’s possible this solution is eluding Marshall because how simply he’s handled things before. And it doesn’t help that his girlfriend is making him consider his platform and how potentially destructive it might be to try and rectify this.

As for the other “as it turns outs”, we get a little bit more development for our two other prospective love interests for Sam, Link and Charles. AS IT TURNS OUT, Link met Sam once while he was taking care of his father in the hospital and Sam was there for him even through the funeral, so since then, he’s been trying to get closer to her and only recently asked her out, though it took one of Sam’s other friends, Dee, to get her to understand that he was actually doing that. Later, Sam gets a ride from her boss Charles, who gets into how he does fencing and once knew someone who apparently was only doing it to please his father, and AS IT TURNS OUT, that man was Marshall, who they meet at the coffee shop when he runs into Sam’s friends and one nearly beats the crap out of him. So, now all three of the potential love interests have convened at the same place and both Charles and Link know Marshall to some degree, though differing ones. How shall this interaction play out next week?
