English Dub Review: Tougen Anki “Thank You!”

Overview:

Back at the academy, the students had to divide into shared rooms.

Our Take:

I don’t know about the rest of you, but it felt like a little too late for them to try and make the Momotauro sympathetic. Especially when it comes to Tsubakiri, learning he has a wife and a child that was just born doesn’t make me feel bad that he died. Villains can have families too, that doesn’t make them any less villainous. They even gave us some backstory on why he is so ruthless and it didn’t do much for me in that regard either. He was a shitty guy that saw the battle between Oni and Momotauro as black and white when we know in the real world that conflicts are usually more nuanced than that.

Meanwhile, after the battle Shiki and the rest of the students have to divide into shared rooms. Kuina is seemingly in love with Rokuro now and claims sharing a room with him. She let’s it slip how their days are going to go if they do share a room and she plans on having a lot of sex. Unfortunately, Naito isn’t going to allow boys and girls to share a room. I don’t know why, it’s not like this is a typical school or anything but this is a story marketed to younger people so I get it I guess. Rokuro didn’t seem thrilled by the idea anyways for some reason.
