English Dub Review: A Couple of Cuckoos “That’s the First Time I Ever Found You Attractive”

The day of the cultural festival arrives, and Nagi and Erika prepare to win with their act.

Our Take:

I’ll admit I’m not a huge fan of this show, but when you’re also reviewing Rent-a-Girlfriend, it makes this show feel like a masterpiece. But what wasn’t a masterpiece was the routine that Nagi and Erika had planned. Sachi and Ai made an appearance singing a song, which was nice because they even dubbed the song, which doesn’t happen much these days. In a shocking twist, Hiro and her partner forfeited from the competition, so Nagi and Erika winning must be a slam dunk, right? You’d be wrong because their “act,” if you can call it that, was essentially telling the school their story and apologizing for lying about it.

Not only did this not go over well, but there was a member of the audience who didn’t like that Erika “lied” to him. Nagi didn’t like the guy’s attitude and ended up punching him, which led to his suspension from school. Erika thanked him for standing up for her by kissing him. What was nice is that, of course, Nagi thought it was a way to cheer him up and not a big deal. But Erika let him know it was a big deal, so maybe some progress will happen here.
