English Dub Review: I’m Living With an Otaku NEET Kunoichi?! “Somehow the Former NEET Did Her Best with Chores and Work / Somehow a Tsundere Kunochi Showed Up”

An unhealthy decision..

Overview

“Somehow, the Former NEET Did Her Best with Chores and Work”

Shizuri decides to stop being a NEET. How hard could that be?

“Somehow, the Strongest Assassin Appeared”

Obstaining from her slackerish habits starts to take its toll as Shizuri doesn’t know what to do with herself…

Our Take

This time around, we get another two episodes that feel like one long episode as Shizuri’s attempt to abandon her NEET lifestyle marks a bold shift in her journey. Rather than easing into the workforce, she throws herself completely into a new domestic and professional routine, taking her role as Tsukasa’s protector seriously while trying to become a functioning member of society. The return of familiar faces like Kanna, who’s back on maid duty for her practical reasons, highlights how both women find themselves reluctantly pulled back into old roles.

For the 2nd half, we get to see that Shizuri’s newly active lifestyle shift doesn’t come without consequences. As her dedication to Tsukasa and her determination to stay useful push her into overdrive, sacrificing even small joys like mobile games in an attempt to “earn” her place. This leads to some hilarious and concerning moments, as she tries to fill the void with frantic activities. Meanwhile, looming threats begin to surface, setting a darker tone beneath the surface of this otherwise lighthearted setup…

Overall, this episode takes a sharp but intriguing turn as it blends absurd comedy, surprising emotional depth, and an emerging plotline with real stakes. While the series still leans heavily into its over-the-top humor and quirky characters, the thematic shift—particularly around identity, burnout, and self-worth adds new dimensions to Shizuri’s story. Whether this tonal change pays off remains to be seen, but even a reformed NEET kunoichi can’t escape the chaos for long…
