English Dub Review: I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability “Ghoul Hunt”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Having learned the divine sorcery he was looking for, Lloyd searches for some undead to test it on.
Our Take:
Lloyd has gained another type of magic to use at his disposal, meaning we get to spend more time studying the potential it contains. Additionally, he gets another helping hand from the angel, Jihriel, who now takes the form of a yellow bird. However, all he does right now is show high affection towards Lloyd’s female allies, including Esther. Whether his brand of humor would carry his appearance this season remains unknown at this point, but right now, he hasn’t quite nailed that task in winning me over with his hopeless romantic personality.
The episode’s actual humor comes from Lloyd’s quest to hunt down ghouls to test his divine sorcery on. Accompanied by Sylpha, Ren, and the returning Tao, Lloyd finds himself in the town’s sewer tunnel, where Tao proposes a competition, in which the winner gets to spend quality time with Lloyd. As you might be aware, Sylpha had her shining moment in the season one episode, “Sylpha’s Blade”, where she utilized her new weapon to tear down the demon army. This wound up being one of my personal highlights of the first season regarding Sylpha’s personality and swordsmanship skills. Unsurprisingly, I would admit that Sylpha continues to impress me in “Ghoul Hunt”, in which she strives to one-up Tao so she can spend the day with Lloyd. Of course, Ren is also competing, but only to impress Lloyd.
“Ghoul Hunt” suggests that Sylpha could win me over once more in the second season, as she did in season one. Additionally, despite the questionable design choice for Lloyd and the genre’s formulaic elements, the series attempts to enhance its sense of enjoyment through the season’s arc, particularly with the mysterious man running amok. Admittedly, it does seem to be working to some extent in terms of its Chibi-style humor and appealing action. If this keeps up, we could be looking at one of the sophomore seasons that corrects the mistakes of the first season.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
