English Dub Review: I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability “Civil War”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Tao, Ren, and Sylpha encounter an undead with an incredibly dangerous power in the sewers.
Our Take:
Despite its title, this week’s episode doesn’t involve Captain America and Iron Man punching the knockers out of each other. Instead, we see Tao, Ren, and Sylpha’s competition getting sidetracked by a mysterious undead that’s seemingly stronger than the zombified weaklings they fought. The reason is that this peculiar undead possesses a dangerous type of magic involving his spinal threads, which can override people’s neural systems. What’s even worse is that he’s cooperating with the mysterious priest, whose infiltration of the castle was interrupted by Babylon.
The episode’s first half continues the show’s attempt to give its supporting characters a moment to shine in their battles, notably Tao, Ren, and Sylpha. While Lloyd was able to handle the rest in its second half, seeing the three women in action highlights the series’s realization that Lloyd can’t be the only person solving everyone’s problems with his immense power. Sure, it has its moments regarding Lloyd’s OP capabilities, but if it’s all that the show has to offer, it can get pretty repetitive rather quickly. This issue nearly depleted my interest in the first season, so it was nice to see that season two was able to emphasize its supporting characters further, making the battles a bit more interesting.
The same goes for Babylon, whose battle with the priest didn’t turn out as well as he had hoped. With Babylon’s brutal defeat, it showcases how formidable this so-called “priest” really is, mainly due to his monstrous form. Of course, that’s nothing compared to Lloyd’s limitless magic, but given its shocking conclusion, could that be the case? The fact that I’m asking this question shows how much this season has been improving regarding the narrative stakes, though not by much.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
