English Dub Review: Dr Stone – Science Future “Diamond Heart”
OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)
Senku’s team come across a mountain of inactive Medusas, but find some extra uses that may give them an edge against Stanley’s forces.
OUR TAKE
While this episode doesn’t get us any closer to understanding why the big Petrification Event occurred, the Kingdom of Science does get their hands on a massive amount of Medusas, allowing them to examine them and run tests. Among the discoveries is that the Medusas are completely undetectable by radar, which explains how they were able to arrive on Earth and cause the global petrification without anyone finding out they were there until it was too late. The other big detail that they learn expands on some recent information, that Medusas run on a tiny diamond inside the device that stops working once it’s burnt or cracked by the device’s energy. So, once they affix a bunch of them to a brand new ship (allowing them to avoid being detected by Stanley’s crew, an invention even more advanced than the time they came from), the next step is using regular chemistry to create their own diamonds and replace them on the Medusas they have, giving them full and unlimited access to its power. And since Stanley is the only considerable threat they have to deal with at the moment, he’s gonna be on the receiving end of getting stoned the moment they get the chance. Unless he decides to call a truce or something.
That’s the brunt of the scientific developments, and it’s hard to say there were really any big ones in the character department. Xeno continues to be a model hostage who is willing to help out when convenient, even if it’s for the purpose of fighting against his own ally Stanley, though he is open about the fact that if he is able to find a discovery about the Medusas on his own, he’s going to keep it to himself for as long as he can. It’s sure nice of him to be honest about his priorities being to betray them, though at this point I’m kinda wishing he had more opportunities to do so. We’re now halfway through this third of the season and therefore halfway done with it overall, meaning six more episodes of this and a dozen after that. I’m enjoying what we’re doing at the moment just fine, but I do get the sense that things really need to start feeling like a final season. But I’ll admit that could very well be me just being impatient and we could be seeing a big plot twist just around the corner. Let’s keep going and I guess we’ll see.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
