English Dub Review: My Dress-Up Darling “Wakana Gojo, 15 Years Old, Teenager”

Overview:

Wakana helps Marin make a bunny girl outfit so she can cosplay as one of her favorite characters.

Our Take:

When I originally watched the first season of My Dress-Up Darling it was still post-Covid so I didn’t know if it would get a dub or not. I’m a fan of the series so I watched the sub and never went back and watched the dub. This is my first experience with it and I was surprsied with how much I loved the voices. Amanda Lee is a mainstay in the anime community but there’s something about how she voices Marin that is so cute and adorable. Paul Dateh does the voice of Gojo and from what I can see this is basically his only anime role so far. I hope he gets more because I love how his voice sounds. He reminds me of Adam Gibbs but he has his mannerisms that I enjoy.

This show was a smash-hit when it came out so I’m surprised that it took this long to get a second season. I’m glad that it did and with the manga being finished I hope we can get the whole thing adapted. I also review 2.5 Dimensional Seduction and I’m not sure which came first but I think they both have their own pros and cons. I would have to say that I enjoy My Dress-Up Darling a little more because Gojo is less of an annoying protagonist than Okumura. Plus sometimes a harem hits and other times it doesn’t and Gojo only having eyes for Marin fits better for me.

The animation was fantastic. There were times I felt like I was watching a movie instead of a seasonal episode. I might have to go back and watch the first season again because I don’t remember the animation being this good.
