Our Take
Family Guy has a fine history of lampooning important political figures. Bill Clinton, Donald Trump, and a slew of others have passed through Quahog over the years and have had a chance to take a bit of a whipping and this time around it’s Supreme Court Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Not unlike the aforementioned Clinton, Homer Simpson, and even the Chicken at times, we eventually see Peter become friends with strangers from out of town thanks to the cause and solution to all of life’s problems….beer.
That’s right,Family Guy has a fun time doing the dirty deeds to not just Brett but the entirety of the Supreme Court. As is the case with classic Family Guy, the show does a bang up job taking down each and every one of the justices down a peg and doing so in hilarious fashion. Ginni Thomas probably gets the worst of it, but really everybody is on the receiving end of a few lashings. I mean, they were literally convinced Brett and Peter Griffin were the same guy for pretty much the entirety of the episode.
This week’s episode featured a good premise for the “B”-plot with Brett joining Quagmire, Joe, and Cleveland for a day but to be honest I felt like there wasn’t much difference in showcasing how drunk Brett can get in the opening scenes with Peter versus Peter’s pals so I’m not sure we couldn’t have even left that whole bit out and just focused on Peter having a run at DC. The cutaway gags were also pretty light tonight and again, with us getting what was essentially a 22-minute cutaway gag, I could’ve done without them with the exception of the hilarious Supreme League bit that played in to introduce our cast of judge characters.
Overall, a rather strong episode of Family Guy and works as a great complement to “Fat Gun” in terms of episodes this season that are good highlights for the show’s Michael Jordan season.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
